The Basics Of Good Parenting
Good parenting is something which does not come naturally to all of us. In fact, realizing this fact goes a long way in making many people good parents. Parenting skills and methods don’t come naturally to people when they become parents. They have to develop them.
Every Action Has an Equal And Opposite Reaction!
The first and foremost thing to keep in mind while raising kids is that kids learn EVERYTHING from their parents; so almost everything that you do will have some effect or the other on them. Every decision you make and every one of your mannerisms will somehow mould them into what they become later on in life. Therefore it is of utmost importance that you stay careful around your kids.
For example, if you smoke, you can be rest assured that there will be a high chance of your child smoking when he or she grows up, even if you forbid them to. Why? Because you do it yourself. So if you actually want your child to be a non smoker, you need to quit smoking first.
The Big No No!
Another mistake which busy parents make is that they spoil their children. Spoiling your child NEVER gets you anywhere with them. All those toys or books or expensive gadgets and clothes which you keep showering on your children, can never, ever take your place. All the freedom that you give your child will be put to bad use.
Simply because they want your attention, which is the one thing you cannot give them. Good parenting involves actively taking time out from your busy schedule to be with your children and get involved in their lives.
Good parents are often strict. You need to establish a set of rules which you have to ensure that your child follows. This is simply because if you don’t teach your child what is right and what is wrong, while they are still young and at a tender age, they’ll know no better when they grow older and when you aren’t around! These rules which you set will be a lifelong asset for your children.
Good parenting isn’t very easy, but the fact is, every one of us is capable of being good parents, so why not give it a shot?
